Enlisted for WW II on 2 April 1942, when residing in Dona Ana Co., New Mexico.  At this time he is 5' 10" tall and 175 pounds.

1949:  residing in Dallas, Texas.

Anna Lou BOZE 1, 2 was born 1, 3 on 11 Feb 1918 in Oregon Co., Missouri. She died 4, 5 on 7 Jan 1995 in Hood Co., Texas. Anna married 1 Clifton Wesley YELVINGTON Sr. 6 on 27 Jul 1946.

Thomas Miller YELVINGTON [Parents] 1, 2 was born 3 on 8 Nov 1915. He died 3 on 10 Feb 1944 in Germany. He was buried in Harlingen Cemetery, Cameron Co., Texas 4. Thomas married Pauline UNKNOWN.

   Staff Sergeant Thomas M. Yelvington, 28, who had been living in Harlingen, TX, was killed in action on February 10, 1944. He was a tail turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator and had been stationed in England with the Eighth Air Force since the previous December.
   His parents, S. W. and Verlie Gregory Yelvington, were Ashley County natives as were he and his grandparents, Thomas M. and Mary Ann Riley Yelvington and H. A. and Laura Thompson Gregory. At the time of his death, his mother had moved to Coffeeville, KS, and his wife and son, Wayne, were living in College Park, GA. His name is not listed on the Ashley County Veterans Memorial.

Harlingen Sergeant Is Killed in Action
   HARLINGEN--Staff Sgt. Thomas M. Yelvington, 28, was killed in action on February 10, according to word received here Monday.  Yelvington, who formerly lived in Harlingen, was a tail turret gunner on a B-24 (Liberator) and had been with the Eighth Air Force in England since December.
   Mrs. Verlie Jones, mother of Sergeant Yelvington, is making her home in Coffeyville, Kansas, at present, and his wife and son, Wayne, are living at College Park, Georgia.  Three uncles live in the Valley--M. T. Gregory of Santa Rosa and Rev. D. A. Gregory of Edcouch.  Sergeant Yelvington has served with the Twelfth Cavalry at Brownsville and also at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia, before enlisting in the Air Corps in August, 1942.
   Two brothers are also in the Air Corps, Gregory in the Army's Primary Civil Contract School at Coffeyville, Kansas, now awaiting his call to the Air Transport Command, and Sgt. Clifton W. Yelvington, radio operator in the Southwest Pacific.

Posthumuous Award Presented Sergeant
   Staff Sergeant Thomas M. Yelvington, son of Mrs. Verlie Jones, Dallas, who with her son lived for many years in Harlingen, has been posthumously awarded the Air Medal, with Oak Leaf cluster for his duties as a ball gunner on a B-24 Liberator over occupied continental Europe.
   The award was recently presented to his wife, Mrs. Pauline Yelvington, 1365 E. Virginia avenue, College Park.  Sgt. Yelvington was killed last February in Attleoridge, (illegible) England.
   Sgt. Yelvington served three years with the Calvary at Fort Brown Brownsville and three years with the 22nd Infantry at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Ga prior to entering the Army Air Corps, shortly after Pearl Harbor.  He is the nephew of M. T. Gregory, Harlingen; C. M. Gregory, Santa Rosa and D. A. Gregory, formerly of Edcouch who now liveds in Premon.

Yelvington Remains Due Here Thursday
   Services have been scheduled for next Tuesday at 4 p m for Staff Sergeant T M Yelvington of Harlingen whose remains are scheduled to arrive here Thursday.  
    Son of Mrs Verlie Jones who now makes her home in Coffeyville, Kans, the tail turret gunner was killed at the age of 38 while on a mission with the Eight Air Force over Germany on Feb 10 1944.
   The gunner was a regular army man having served six years with the infantry and cavalry before switching to the Air Force.
   Among his Valley relatives are three uncles M T Gregory of Harlingen, C M Gregory of Santa Rosa and D A Gregory of Fremont.
   The Rev Harry V Hamblen who was a chaplain in the same combat area in which Yelvington served will officiate at the services at Kriedler Ashcraft chapel.

John Fred "Fred" HAIRE 1, 2 was born 1 on 14 Nov 1905. He died 1 on 23 Sep 1978. Fred married 1 Omallee LEWIS 1 on 4 Nov 1940.

Omallee LEWIS [Parents] 1 was born 1 on 4 Oct 1917. She died 2 on 25 Sep 1997 in Port Bolivar, Galveston Co., Texas. Omallee married 1 John Fred HAIRE "Fred" 1, 3 on 4 Nov 1940.

Fletcher Allen LEWIS [Parents] was born 2 on 23 Feb 1919 1 in Arkansas 1. He died 3 on 29 May 1964 1 in Houston, Harris Co., Texas 1. He was buried in Lacey Cemetery, Drew Co., Arkansas 1. Fletcher married 2, 3 Georgia UNKNOWN in 1953.

From Fletcher's death certificate, it is noted that he died of "carcinoma of the upper lobe - right lung with metastasces to the liver."

Richard Marion "Bud" LINDER [Parents] was born 1 on 8 Aug 1866 in Arkansas. He died 2, 3 on 27 Mar 1907 in Ashley Co., Arkansas. He was buried 2 in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Bud married 4 Sallie R. GEE 2, 4 about 3 Jan 1895.

From the Ashley County Eagle, March 28, 1907:
"Mr. R. M. Linder died at his home southwest of town about 3:00 yesterday morning, after a protracted illness of pneumonia."

Sallie R. GEE 1, 2 was born 1 in 1879. She died 1 in 1965. She was buried 1 in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Sallie married 2 Richard Marion LINDER "Bud" about 3 Jan 1895.

Olivia HOLLAND 1, 2 was born 1 on 22 May 1889. She died 1 on 7 Mar 1960. She was buried 1 in Antioch Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Olivia married Sidney B. WALDROP on 16 Feb 1908 2, 3 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 2, 3.
