  Mr. Rudy Bing, 63, of Crossett died Saturday, January 11, 2003, at his residence in Crossett. A native of Eudora, a Crossett resident for the past ten years and a resident of Little Rock for many years, he was the owner of Denture Masters Dental Lab in Crossett, a veteran of the U. S. Army and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Bing; his mother, Loye Carpenter Bing; and a sister, Penny Kilcrease.
  Survivors include three daughters, Kenda and Lynn Bing, both of Texas, and Jaye Smith of Monticello; two sisters, Annette Weindorf and Gail Higginbotham, both of Hamburg; a half-sister, Libby Smith of Pine Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
  A private burial of ashes will be held at a later date in the Hamburg Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Matie Allen, daughter of Rev. Hogan Allen, opened a millinery shop located in the grove of magnolias just east of the northeast corner of the square. Miss Sallie Smith was associated with her in the new business.

Edward Leland ALLEN [scrapbook] 1 was born on 18 May 1893 2, 3 in Milo, Ashley Co., Arkansas 2, 3. He died on 12 Sep 1918 3 in St. Michel, France 3. He was buried in Egypt Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas 4.

   From Edward's 1917 WW I Draft Registration card, he is noted as being tall and slender with brown eyes and black hair.

   Sgt. Edward Leland Allen, 25, son of Mr. A. J. Allen of Milo and grandson of Rev. Hogan Allen, was included in the casualty lists on October 15, 1918, as killed in action.
   He had been living in Galveston, TX, when he was called and arrived overseas on June 13. In a letter home dated September 1, which arrived October 1, he said that he was on the way to the front. Sgt. Allen was killed in the battle for the great fortress of St. Michiel on September 12 or 16, 1918. Sgt. Allen registered for the draft in Galveston. He was born May 18, 1893, in Milo and worked as a street railway conductor for Galveston Electric before induction. He was single.
