Joseph Patrick "Joe Pat" RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2, 3 on 3 Mar 1886 in Arkansas. He was baptized 4 in Jul 1899 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 3, 5 in Oct 1971 in Eudora, Chicot Co., Arkansas. He was buried 3 in Eudora, Chicot Co., Arkansas. Joe Pat married 3, 5 Mamie Agnes CONE in 1912.

  Joe Pat, along with brothers John Rutledge and Hunter joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in July 1899 by "experience and baptism."  Joe Pat left Mt. Olive 1 Sep 1908 via letter (Mt. Olive Records, p. 106, see also p. 72).
  On his 1918 WW I Registration Card, he is listed as being "tall and stout with blue eyes and medium brown hair".  At that time, he was living in Montrose, Arkansas, and self-employed in the mercantile business.  (See "scrapbook" link with the multi-media edition of this report).
  Joe Pat moved to Eudora and started a small store which eventually became a very big one.  He ended up buying thousands of acres of prime farm land and was a relatively financially successful man.  Both his two sons became doctors. [Patrick Moffeit Riley via Schatzi Riley]

Mamie Agnes CONE [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2 on 3 Aug 1892 in Arkansas. She died 1 in 1955. Mamie married 1, 3 Joseph Patrick RILEY "Joe Pat" in 1912.

They had the following children.

  M ii Dr. Winston Everitt RILEY was born on 22 Sep 1917. He died on 8 Nov 1996.

Columbus Allen "Charlie" RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] 1, 2 was born 3, 4 on 12 Mar 1888 in Arkansas. He was baptized in Aug 1900 5 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Ashley Co., Arkansas 5. He died 4 on 7 Jul 1962. He was buried 4 in Roselawn Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas. Charlie married 4, 6, 7 Winnie Mae CRAIG on 20 Aug 1914.

   C. A. Riley, "Uncle Lum"  was very personable, a huge man and people just responded to him.  He had various jobs and for a time was a deputy sheriff and therefore carried a big 45.  He was so popular that he ran for Mayor and was almost elected, he came within a hair.  He joined with a man named Gunnels and formed Gunnels-Riley service station on 10th and Main.  It was large and prosperous and it did exceptionally well.  (Depression knocked it out).  The JRR, Jr. Riley's lived two doors down from each other on 24th st.  The James R family lived right next door to the C.A. Riley's.  All the kids played together.  C. A. and his son Jack were both reportedly alcoholics who quit by joining AA.  C. A.'s other son, Bob was lieutenant governor and was a war hero.    From C. A.'s 1917 WW I Registration Card, he is noted as being "tall and of medium build" with "brown eyes and dark hair."  At this time he resides at 1104 W. 24th St. in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he is employed by O. D. Tucker IV & Co. as an auto salesman.  (See the "scrapbook" link with the multi-media edition of this report).

Winnie Mae CRAIG [scrapbook] was born 1, 2 on 31 Mar 1892 in Arkansas. She died 2 on 22 Jul 1974. She was buried 3 in Roselawn Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas. Winnie married 1, 2, 3 Columbus Allen RILEY "Charlie" on 20 Aug 1914.

They had the following children.

  M i Columbus Allen RILEY Jr. was born on 6 May 1916. He died on 7 Feb 2001.
  M ii Robert Cowley "Bob" RILEY was born on 18 Sep 1924. He died on 16 Feb 1994.

David Cooper RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2, 3 on 8 Feb 1892 in Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He was baptized in Jul 1904 4 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Ashley Co., Arkansas 4. He died on 24 Oct 1963 5 in Booneville, Logan Co., Arkansas 5. He was buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Logan Co., Arkansas 5. David married 2, 6, 7 Hazel Estelle ANDREWS on 3 Feb 1934 in Booneville, Logan Co., Arkansas 5.

From David's 1917 WW I Registration Card, he is described as "medium height and build with gray eyes and black hair."  At that time, he was living in Montrose, Arkansas and was self-employed as a farmer. (See "scrapbook" link with the multi-media edition of this report).
   David's left Mt Olive Baptist Church in Ashley Co., Arkansas at the same time as his parents, on May 25, 1912.

Hazel Estelle ANDREWS [Parents] 1 was born 1 on 12 Aug 1913. She died 2 on 30 Mar 2001 in Nashville, Howard Co., Arkansas. Hazel married 1, 3, 4 David Cooper RILEY on 3 Feb 1934 in Booneville, Logan Co., Arkansas 5.

Claude Millwee GREGORY [Parents] 1 was born 1, 2, 3 on 10 Jan 1889 in Trafalgar, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 3 on 21 Mar 1959. Claude married 2, 4 Hattie Elizabeth RILEY about 1920.

   From Claude's 1917 World War I registration card, he is noted as living in Trafalgar, Ashley Co., Arkansas with an occupation of "Teaching."  He is described as being of medium height and build, and with gray eyes and dark hair.
   Claude operated citrus groves in Texas ("Reflections of Ashley County," p. 374).
1930:  residing in Cameron Co., Texas.

Hattie Elizabeth RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2 on 11 Sep 1896 in Arkansas. She was baptized in Aug 1908 3 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Ashley Co., Arkansas 3. She died 2 on 7 Apr 1932 in Santa Rosa, Cameron Co., Texas. Hattie married 2, 4 Claude Millwee GREGORY about 1920.

   Hattie left Mt Olive Baptist Church in Ashley Co., Arkansas at the same time as her parents, on May 25, 1912.

Francis Marion "Tobe" LINDER [Parents] 1 was born 2, 3, 4 on 28 Nov 1858 in Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He was baptized 5 in Aug 1887 in Central Baptist Church, Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 4, 6 on 20 Dec 1899 in Ashley Co., Arkansas. He was buried 3 in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Tobe married 1, 7 Susan Elizabeth RILEY "Susie" 9 on 12 Dec 1886 8 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 8.

   Owned and operated a freight line (via wagon) from the Mississippi River (Reflections of Ashley County, p. 319).
1880:  Residing in Bearhouse Township, Ashley County, Arkansas.
Aug 1887:  Joined Central Baptist Church by "experience and baptism," [Central Baptist Church Records]

   In 1894, F. M. Linder was "excluded" from the Central Baptist Church [Church Records]

   From the Ashley County Eagle, January 4, 1900:
"Mr. F. M. Linder, Berea, was thrown from his wagon by a runaway team while on his way home Dec. 20th, and instantly killed.  Pinned between the axle of the wagon and the stump of a large tree."

Susan Elizabeth "Susie" RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] 1 was born 2 on 28 Feb 1866 in Arkansas. She died on 1 Oct 1913. She was buried in Hamburg Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas 3. Susie married 4, 5 Francis Marion LINDER "Tobe" on 12 Dec 1886 6 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 6.

   From the Ashley County Eagle, January 23, 1908:
"Mrs. S. E. Linder of this city, and Mr. Lou Elkins of Indiana were united in marriage by Rev. F. P. Doak at the home of the bride last Sunday evening at 6:30."

Doris RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] 1 was born 2, 3, 4 on 3 Mar 1904 in Arkansas. She died 2 on 3 Jun 1969. She was buried 5 in Roselawn Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas. Doris married 1, 2 Robert GREEN "Bob" in Sep 1940.
