 Mr. Marion Kelley, 52, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native of Crossett and a resident of the Shiloh community north of Hamburg for many years, he graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1971. He was a district sales manager for Frito Lay and a former manager of the Kroger Food Store in Forrest City. He was a deacon of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was vice president of the Southern Cross Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

John Manley "Doc" WALDROP [Parents] was born on 30 Apr 1866 in Arkansas. He died 1 on 23 Apr 1940. He was buried 2 in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Union Pa., Louisiana. Doc married 1 Madelyn Columbia LOVE on 18 Jul 1900.

Madelyn Columbia LOVE was born 1 on 7 Mar 1881. She died 2 on 30 Jul 1958. She was buried 2 in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Union Pa., Louisiana. Madelyn married 1 John Manley WALDROP "Doc" on 18 Jul 1900.

George Thomas "Big George" RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] 1 was born 2 on 7 Jul 1873 in Arkansas. He was baptized 3 on 10 Aug 1889 in Central Baptist Church, Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 4 on 26 Jul 1951. He was buried 5 in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Big George married 4, 6, 7, 8 Laura Jo STANLEY on 3 Jan 1917 in Hamburg, Ashley Co., Arkansas.

   George joined Central Baptist Church of Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas in August 1889 and was a member through April 1899. In April 1899 he is noted as joining Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Berea (Mt. Olive Records, p. 72).
   Lived his entire life in the home in which he was born--that of his father James Cooper Riley (Reflections of Ashley County, p 371).
   From George's 1918 WW I Registration card, he is described as "tall and stout with blue eyes and brown hair."
Following are entries from the records of the Central Baptist Church:

   August 8th 1891:  "Charges were preferred against Bro. George Riley and Will Linder for trespassing on Bro. Dave Williamson's place after nite and the deacons was to notify them of the charges against them."
   June 11, 1892:  "Charges was preferred against Bro. George Riley for using profanity and a committee of one J. B. Franklin was to notify Bro. George Riley of the charges against him."
    August 13th, 1892  "Bro. J. B. Franklin reported that Bro. George Riley stated that he would meet with the church and answer to charges against him but he was absent and the church continued his case until next meeting."
   September 10th 1892  "Bro. George Riley made satisfactory concessions to the church for using profanity."
    February 4th 1893  "Charges was preferred against Bro. George Riley and Ab Knight for drunkness and a committee Bro. J. B. Franklin and E. T. Johnson was to notify them of charges against them."
   June 3rd 1893 (after several deferrals at monthly meetings) "Bro. George Riley's case was taken up and the church withdrew fellowship from him."
   August 1894, George is restored to Central Baptist Church.
   April 8th, 1899: "Bro. George Riley called for a letter of dismission which was granted"

Laura Jo STANLEY [Parents] 1 was born 1, 2, 3 on 17 Jul 1880 in Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. She died 2, 3 on 15 Jun 1968 in Hamburg, Ashley Co., Arkansas. She was buried 4 in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Laura married 1, 2, 5, 6 George Thomas RILEY "Big George" 7 on 3 Jan 1917 in Hamburg, Ashley Co., Arkansas.

Radford Randolph RILEY [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2, 3 on 18 Apr 1892 in Berea, Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 2, 4, 5 on 31 Aug 1942 in Ashley Co., Arkansas. He was buried 2 in Promised Land Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Radford married 6, 7 Edna Bell HIGGINBOTHAM on 25 Nov 1917.

According to Radford's 1917 WW I Registration Card, he was "tall and stout" with "blue eyes and black hair."  At this time he resides in Hamburg and works for himself as a farmer.  (See the "scrapbook" link with the multi-media edition of this report).

Edna Bell HIGGINBOTHAM [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 1, 2, 3 on 20 Apr 1900 in Arkansas. She died 2 on 11 Dec 1933. She was buried 2 in Promised Land Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas. Edna married 1, 4 Radford Randolph RILEY on 25 Nov 1917.

Raised in the Promise Land Community, Ashley Co., Arkansas.
