Doyle L. DINGLER [Parents] was born on 7 Oct 1919. He died on 28 Feb 2001 in Magnolia, Columbia Co., Arkansas. He was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Magnolia, Arkansas. Doyle married 1 Tiny FOREMAN on 1 Mar 1947 in Waldo, Columbia Co., Arkansas.

Obituary (from Young family notes):

Magnolia, AR--Funeral service for Doyle L. Dingler, 81, of Magnolia will be held Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Brother David Watkins officiating.  Dingler died Wednesday at Magnolia City Hospital.

Dingler's love of sports led to a career of more than half a century as a time-keeper at Southern Arkansas University football and basketball games.  Shortly after World War II when Dingler enrolled at Magnolia A&M Junior College (now SAU), the late Elmer Smith, the new Muleriders coach, requested Dingler to keep time at 'Rider athletic events.  He also kept time at high school tournaments held on the SAU campus.  He recently retired but was seen as recently as last season in the football press box to assure SAU athletic officals that the time-keeping chore would be handled professionally.

Dingler was a native of Snyder, Arkansas, in Ashley County.  He moved to Magnolia in 1937 and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1938.  He graduated from SAU in 1949 with a degree in Business after serving in the Army in World War II, part of the time in the South Pacific.  He received an Honorable Discharge in December, 1945.

He worked for Shell Oil Company in Magnolia from 1949 until 1960 and when Shell shut down their Magnolia office, he was employed by the Horace Mann Insurance Company.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and active in the Men's Adult Sunday School Class.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Columbia #82, F&AM in Magnolia for 50 years.

Dingler was preceded in death by his parents, Fred A. and Ethel (Young) Dingler.  He is survived by his wife, Tiny (Foreman) Dingler, a daughter, Mary Ann Kee of Magnolia, a sister, Doris Kelly of Ocee, Fla., a brother, Lamar Dingler, a legendary coach at Lake Village and now of Little Rock, step-grandon's Dustin and Chris Kee and several nieces and nephews.  Dingler's death came one day short of the couple's 54th wedding anniversary.

Active pallbearers are Arthur Minor, W.T. Watson, Jack Harrington, Billy Groves, John David Scott and James Marlar.  Honorary Pallbearers are Grant Marshall, Dr. Lisa Colvin, Harold Jameson, Jay Adcox, Landon Stevens, Jeff Harrington and the Men's Bible Sunday School Class.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church or donor's choice.
