Lamar DINGLER [Parents] was born 1 on 6 Sep 1921 in Ashley Co., Arkansas. He died 1 on 26 Jul 2004 in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas. He was buried 1 on 29 Jul 2004 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Magnolia, Arkansas.

Obituary:
Lamar Dingler, 82, of Little Rock, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Born September 6, 1921, in Ashley County to the late Fred and Ethel (Young) Dingler, he graduated from Magnolia High School and later attended Magnolia A&M (now Southern Arkansas University), Murray State College, abd the University of Arkansas and received his master's degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN. He lettered two years in football at the University of Arkansas and was team captain in 1943 and 1944.

Dingler was head football coach and athletic director at Lakeside High School in Lake Village from 1945 through 1970. He compiled an overall record of 180685. He captured three state championships in 1945, 1948 and 1949. His teams won 10 district championships, and one state track and field championship.

Dingler was one of the founding fathers of the Arkansas High School Coaches Association and High School AllStar Games. He was elected the first president of the AHSCA, and was selected as the first head coach of the East Football AllStars in 1956. He was inducted into the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000. During his coaching career, Dingler coached 43 young men who received college scholarships in athletics. Three of his players later played on the professional level. The football field in Lake Village is named in his honor, "Lamar Dingler Field."

He came out of retirement in 1985 to be the head football coach at Jefferson Prep in Pine Bluff. He was named the Southeast Arkansas Coach of the Year by the Pine Bluff Commercial in 1985. He also served two terms in the Arkansas legislature.

Survivors are his sons, David Lamar Dingler and wife Kay Fortner Dingler of Columbia, MO, and Robert Lane Dingler of Sherwood; a grandson, Matthew Lamar Dingler of Columbia, MO; a sister, Doris Kelly of Ocee, FL; a sisterinlaw, Tiny Dingler of Magnolia; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doyle Dingler.

Grave-side services were Thursday, July 29, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Magnolia with Bro. Eric Goble officiating, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
