Mary L. NICHOLS [Parents] 1 was born on 8 Aug 1899 2 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 2. She died on 7 May 1995 2 in El Dorado, Union Co., Arkansas 2. She was buried in McFarland Cemetery, Bradley Co., Arkansas 2. Mary married Victor Moss BRATTON 4 on 2 Jan 1916 3 in Bradley Co., Arkansas 3.

   All of the people visited this week live north and east of Banks.
   Mr. and Mrs. V.M. Bratton will have lived at their present place eight years in November. They purchased their place from Freight McMurry, who had owned it for fifty years prior to that time and moved here from the Blue Springs community north of Banks. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Bratton was Mary Nichols. Born in Ashley County, she was brought as a child to Blue Springs. Mr. Bratton was originally from a few miles east of his present home. He works for the woods section of the International Paper Company out of Hampton. Mr. and Mrs. Bratton have three children: Mrs. H.J. Whitley of El Dorado, Mrs. Laverne Faulkner of Camden, and Joe Carroll Bratton of Camden.

Mary Nichols Bratton, age 95, of 1003 W. 7th St., El Dorado died Sunday, May 7 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Born August 8, 1899 in Ashley County, she was the daughter of Jim and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Nichols. She was a homemaker, a member of the Banks Home Demonstration Club, and a member of Banks Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Victor M. Bratton. Survivors include 1 son, Joe C. Bratton, Athens, Ala.; 2 daughters, Frances Whitley, El Dorado and Laverne Douglass, El Dorado; 1 sister, Stella Oliver, El Dorado; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. Funeral was Tuesday May 9 at Banks Baptist Church by Dr. Dwain Miller and Rev. Floyd Taylor. Burial was in the McFarland Cemetery at Banks by Young’s Funeral Directors.

"Mr. J.W. Whittington, who has been operating the Saw Mill on the east side of Pine Prairie for some time, died at his home in that neighborhood on Sunday last. He was a good and useful young citizen."
