Martha Anna "Mollie" TAYLOR [Parents] [scrapbook] 1, 2 was born on 11 Feb 1861 1 in Bearcreek, Ashley Co., Arkansas. She died on 7 Nov 1940 3, 4, 5 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 4. She was buried in Promise Land Cemetery, Ashley Co., Arkansas 5. Mollie married Clovis A. BOYKIN on 4 Oct 1877 6, 7 in Ashley Co., Arkansas 6.

Mollie's birth date is thought to have been 11 February 1861.  Some records indicate a birth in 1860--the probable source of 1860 is from the John W. Taylor bible transcription completed by Eva Farrar.  In her transcription, the last digit of the year was illegible, and she thought it was a "0".  The year of 1861 is further supported by Mollie not being present in the 1860 census, where she would have been a few months old.  A birth date of 11 March 1861 is thought to be on her headstone--whether the headstone month is in error or the Bible transcription is not known.

The following is from the Ashley County Ledger, from research by Dr. David Moyer:
----------
Private Robert Benjamin Boykin of Mist left Ashley County on September 19, 1917, to go to Camp Pike for training. Private Boykin was killed in action while serving with Co. I, 126 Infantry, 36 Division in the American Expeditionary Forces.
He was born August 8, 1895. When he registered for the draft, he was working for B J. Milam as a carpenter in Mist. He was single. Capt. Fred W. Jankowsku of the 126 Infantry, A. E. F., wrote to the Boykin family in February, 1919, that Boykin was killed by artillery fire on October 4, 1918, near Gesnes, France, during the battle for the Ardennes Forest. "He met his death as a true American soldier," the captain wrote. The American Red Cross said that a witness reported that "Pvt. Boykin was killed in action just a kilometer north of Ivory, France, in the Argonne Forest, either by high explosive shell or shrapnel. He was killed instantly. Action of Oct. 4, 1918, about 6 a.m. He was doubtless buried where he fell." He was the son of Mrs. C. A. Boykin of Mist.
----------
From Robert's 1917 WW I Draft Registration Card, he is noted as being of medium build and height with grey eyes and dark hair.  At this time he works as a carpenter for B. J. Milam in Mist, Ashley Co., Arkansas.
From Robert's headstone: 2811972 Pvt. Co. 128th Inf. Gr. 200 Sec. 95 Pt. 4 Cem 1242, "Nobly he fell while fighting for Liberty."
