Olin Eugene THOMAS Jr. [Parents] was born 1 on 18 Apr 1925 in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee. He died 1 on 28 Nov 2003 in Moncks Corner, Berkeley Co., South Carolina. Olin married 2 Ruby Christine YELVINGTON 3 on 5 Jun 1944 in Dallas Co., Texas.

  Olin Eugene Thomas, Jr. of Moncks Corner, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Friday, November 28, 2003. He was the widower of Ruby Yelvington Thomas. Olin was born April 18, 1925 in Nashville, TN, the son of the late Dorothea Virginia King and Olin Eugene Thomas, Sr. He attended Noble Elementary School in Detroit, MI, and Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO, before enlisting in the US Navy on April 17, 1943. Upon finishing Boot Camp at Great Lakes, IL, he served at Naval Air Stations in Dallas, TX and Jacksonville, FL working in the aviation assembly and repair field. Olin met his late wife, Ruby Christine Yelvington while stationed at NAS Dallas and they were married on June 5, 1944. After sustaining a back injury he was medically discharged on January 6, 1946. He worked as a carpenter for the Detroit Board of Education 1950-1966, was part owner and sole operator of Highland Lanes Bowling Alley, Highland, MI 1966-1968, and was a self employed carpenter and locksmith in Florida and South Carolina 1968-1993. Olin demonstrated service above self through his unselfish community service accomplishments. In Florida he was a member of the Matlacha and Pine Island Volunteer Fire Dept. serving as a Fire Service Lieutenant, Department and Fire Control Tax District Treasurer and one of the area's first EMTs. He also served as an Auxiliary State Trooper with Troop F of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary. His love of Boy Scouting started in Michigan in 1963 where he served as a Scout Master. Later in Ft. Myers, FL he served as an adult leader with the BSA Sea Explorers Ship #1. His scouting service continued in South Carolina where he started out assisting and eventually becoming Scout Master of Troop 737. He also served as Troop Treasurer and District 550 Advancement Chairman. His BSA rank and awards included Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, Silver Beaver and Doctor of Commissioner Science. Olin was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.
